CapeTown born Anthony Allen’s interest in aviation and photography started at an early age when he was old enough to understand his father, Roy’s passion for flight. Dad soon had him building and flying balsa wood model aircraft and as regular air show attendees Anthony cut his teeth with cameras snapping high speed low passes of numerous aircraft. After schooling at Rondebosch Boys’ High School and completing the then mandatory 2-year national service he studied and worked in the bitumen industry, specialising in road binders and advising numerous clients on specifications in a large area of the old Cape Province. His technical and photographic skills lead to him exploring this strength and after working for the Petrocol (now Colas) group for six years he opted to follow the strong pull the world of flying offered and gained his Springbok colours for paragliding.
